Thousands across Newfoundland without power again

Update: Power has been restored to most areas.

Earlier Story

For the second time this week, thousands of customers on the Avalon Peninsula are without power.

Some customers in the St. John's area, Conception Bay North, the Burin Peninsula, the Clarenville area, Gander, Grand Falls-Windsor, Deer Lake, and Corner Brook are experiencing unplanned power outages.

There is no estimated restoration time.

NL Hydro is conducting testing today on the Labrador-Island Link transmission line. A trip on the Labrador-Island Link transmission line is the cause of the power outages. Hydro says these outages should be brief and restoration is underway.

On Tuesday there was a power outage in the metro region when there was a problem with a piece of equipment at the Hardwoods substation.

Outages as of 10:00 am.
