Thief leads police on foot pursuit

A 42-year-old man has been arrested after police responded to a business in the west end of St. John’s for a report of a theft in progress on Monday afternoon.

As officers arrived on scene, the suspect was exiting the business. Officers attempted to arrest the suspect, but he fled on foot.

After a short foot pursuit, officers apprehended the suspect.

He was charged with theft under $5000, resisting arrest, failure to comply with a court order and breach of probation.

The accused was held in custody to appear in court.
