The Very Old Western Memorial Regional Hospital

What is now collectively know as the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook has two parts.

The West Coast Sanatorium is the oldest part and the "newer" part is the piece that was built in the early 70's.

The Western Memorial Regional Hospital is the largest regional hospital in western Newfoundland.

It is a 217 bed facility providing secondary services to the people of the Western region, approximately 78,000 people.

Although there is no date set yet, Western Memorial Regional Hospital will be replaced. The government has spent $40 million so far. The new site sits vacant with a dated sign that reads "Site of the new Western Memorial Regional Hospital".

This year the government will spend about 9 million on planning and design.
