Thanksgiving, What's Open And What's Closed

Happy Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving has been officially celebrated as an annual holiday in Canada since November 6, 1879. While the date varied by year and was not fixed, it was commonly the third Monday in October.

Thanksgiving is a designated paid holiday in this province.

Most businesses are closed today. Some convenience stores, gas stations, and restaurants will be open.

Government offices, schools, and banks are closed.

Today is meant as a celebration of being thankful for what one has and the bounty of the previous year.

There are 19 days left until Halloween, 70 days until the first day of winter, and 75 days left until Christmas.
