The provincial government is extending temporary housing assistance for Conception Bay North residents who lost their uninsured primary homes in the 2025 wildfires.

The Temporary Housing Assistance Program will now continue until March 31, 2027, providing financial support for eligible households as they work toward finding permanent housing solutions.

The province has also directed the Canadian Red Cross to focus its $3.1-million share of the Appeal Fund on longer-term housing solutions for the affected households.

Government officials say they will continue working directly with residents to determine the best path forward.

Officials with the CBN Wildfire Response and Recovery Team and the Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation will meet one-on-one with each affected household in the coming weeks to discuss available options.

The province says an announcement outlining the next steps will be made following those meetings.
