Susan Sullivan has been elected Chair of the Board of Directors for the Gander International Airport Authority, beginning a three-year term.
Sullivan becomes the sixth chair in the organization’s history, succeeding Gene Hedges, who served from 2024 to 2026.
The authority says Sullivan brings extensive experience in governance, public policy and leadership, having previously served as a Cabinet minister, educator, senior executive and municipal leader in Newfoundland and Labrador.
During her time in provincial politics, she held several senior portfolios, including Health and Community Services, Education, Innovation, Trade and Rural Development, and Human Resources, Labour and Employment. Outside of politics, she also built a long career in education, including roles in French-language instruction and curriculum development.
Sullivan has served on the Gander International Airport Authority board for five years, including the past three as chair of the Governance Committee.
“The airport matters deeply to this region and to Newfoundland and Labrador, and I am honoured to serve as Chair,” Sullivan said in a statement. “I look forward to working with the board, management and our partners to build on that strength.”
