Stephenville Crossing Town Clerk-Manager Receives Derrick Bragg Leadership Award

Yvonne Young, Town Clerk-Manager of Stephenville Crossing, is the recipient of the 2026 Derrick Bragg Leadership Award.
Municipal and Community Affairs Minister Barry Petten presented the award during the Professional Municipal Administrators of Newfoundland and Labrador’s Fall Forum in Corner Brook on Oct. 15.
Young was recognized for her leadership, advocacy and more than 47 years of service to the residents of Stephenville Crossing.
She was also recognized for mentoring others and contributing to municipal administration and community development.
The annual memorial award was established by the provincial government in partnership with the Professional Municipal Administrators of Newfoundland and Labrador. It recognizes a town clerk, town manager, town clerk-manager or chief administrative officer who has demonstrated excellence and made lasting contributions to municipal administration in the province.
Young is the second recipient of the award.
The award honours the legacy of the late Derrick Bragg, who served as Town Clerk-Manager of Greenspond for 30 years and as president of the Professional Municipal Administrators of Newfoundland and Labrador from 2009 to 2015.
Bragg was elected as the MHA for Fogo Island-Cape Freels in 2015 and served as a provincial cabinet minister until 2023.
