St. John’s reports $6.7M operating surplus for 2025

The City of St. John’s reported an operating cash surplus of $6.7 million for 2025.

City council unanimously adopted the 2025 Executive Summary Report on Revenue and Expenditure, which shows the surplus on an adjusted operating budget of $378.2 million.

The surplus represents about 1.8 per cent of the city’s annual operating budget.

The report compares the city’s revenues and expenditures with its budget expectations for the 2025 fiscal year.

The results are presented using the same cash-based accounting method the city uses to prepare its budget.
