St. John's receives $25,000 grant to plant more trees
St. John's is the recipient of a $25,000 grant from Tree Canada and CN Rail.
The grant is for tree planting in city parks and open spaces, as part of the EcoConnexions – From the Ground Up Program.
Planting under the grant program has recently been completed with a total of 100 new trees planted in Brookfield Road Park, Kelly’s Brook Park, Kitty Gaul Park, and Quidi Vidi Park.
The program provides funding of up to $25,000 for the greening of municipal properties across Canada and the United States.
These trees will add to the 400 to 500 trees that are planted by the city each year.
