The City of St. John's will begin accepting applications next week for its Residential Re-Leaf program, offering residents financial support to plant trees on their properties.

Starting Monday, May 11 at 9 a.m., homeowners can apply for one of 180 vouchers valued at $250 to go toward the purchase of a tree. Applications will be accepted until 4 p.m. on Friday, May 22.

Residents can apply online through a city form. Alternative submission options are also available, including by email or in person at the Access Centre on the first floor of City Hall during regular business hours.

All eligible applications will be entered into a random draw, with successful applicants expected to receive their vouchers by mail in late June.

The program is part of the city’s broader effort to expand its urban forest and promote sustainability by increasing the number and density of trees across the municipality.

Since launching in 2019, the Residential Re-Leaf initiative has distributed more than 800 vouchers, resulting in hundreds of trees being planted on private properties throughout the city.
