St. John's Offers Compost Giveaway to Celebrate Circular Economy Month
To celebrate Circular Economy Month, the City of St. John’s is giving away free compost at the Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility.
The compost is available every Saturday in October from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The compost giveaway is self-serve. Please bring your own gloves, shovels, and buckets to collect a maximum of 250 litres, or approximately 12 five-gallon buckets per visit. Mechanical equipment is not permitted. If you're using an open truck or trailer, you will be required to cover and secure the compost before you leave the site.
City compost is made from yard waste collected from residents, including leaves and pumpkins from the annual Pumpkin Walk. The compost, produced at Robin Hood Bay, is rich in nutrients and helps improve soil for gardens, lawns, and trees.
