A 52-year-old man has been charged with impaired driving following a traffic stop in downtown St. John’s early Tuesday morning.
RNC officers stopped a vehicle at about 2 a.m. on March 10 after suspecting the driver was impaired.
The man was arrested and taken to RNC headquarters, where he provided breath samples for analysis. Police said the results were twice the legal limit.
He was charged with operation of a conveyance while impaired and operating a conveyance with a blood-alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams.
The man’s vehicle was impounded and his driver’s licence suspended. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in provincial court at a later date.
