At approximately 11:08 a.m. firefighters from Kenmount and West End stations were called to a collision at the intersection of Thorburn Road and O'Leary Avenue in St. John’s. Firefighters from Kenmount station were first to arrive. They arrived to find what appeared to be a two-vehicle rear-end collision near the intersection.

One person sustained what appeared to be a back injury as a result of the incident. It is unknown if that person was taken to hospital as a result.

A short time later, at 11:16 a.m. firefighters from central station were dispatched to a vehicle fire on Circular Road between Bannerman Road and Empire Avenue. Traffic between the two intersections were closed as crews attended and worked to clear the scene.

The vehicle, a ford F-550, sustained significant fire damage to the engine compartment of the vehicle. Officers with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary also attended the scene.

The last notable call firefighters responded to was a brush fire call at 1:09 p.m.. Firefighters from Brookfield station responded to a wooded area between St. Matthew's School and Cowan Park in Cowan Heights. Crews quickly laid an attack to wet the area down to ensure the fire did not restart.
