St. John's City Council approves new street naming policy
St. John's City Council has approved a new street naming and civic addressing policy.
The new policy defines a process for the naming of streets or the changing of street names, and what steps are required to request a name change.
There are currently three street names that are reserved for development that have been approved by both the St. John’s Regional Fire Department and Council.
There is also a list of over 400 street names that have been previously submitted without background information or diversity considerations. The Reserved Street Names Inventory will begin anew and residents who wish to resubmit a name can do so under the new policy.
A Street Naming Advisory Committee will be established and will review street naming applications received from both developers and the public.
