St. John's Awards Senior of the Year Award posthumously to Patricia Wright
The Senior of the Year for 2021 has been awarded posthumously to Patricia Wright.
Wright made major contributions to St. John’s and the province for well over 50 years.
Much of her early work was focused on children’s education and includes being one of the key founders of the Children’s Centre, a not-for-profit school.
She was a volunteer with Seniors NL for over 20 years, and also served the organization as a board member. As a Volunteer Coordinator, she was responsible for finding over a hundred volunteers for the organization over the years.
She also served as a Peer Support Volunteer for the information line for 19 years and supported hundreds of seniors over the phone and in person.
The Senior of the Year award recognizes a senior who is making a difference in the community through leadership, volunteering, helping others, or participating in activities.
