Lieutenant Governor Joan Marie Aylward delivered the Speech from the Throne at the House of Assembly today.


Government plans to focus on permanently eliminating the sugar tax, which the previous government already cut.


There will be a freeze on the gas tax, more money for seniors, and an increase in how much people can earn before they have to pay provincial taxes to address the cost of living.


To address issues in the health care sector, there is a plan to eliminate rural emergency department closures.


Government will also work to expand cellphone coverage in the province.


With the rising rate of crime, there will be more RNC and RCMP officers hired.


There will be a focus on literacy and math in the education sector.


There will be a new tourism strategy aimed at people adopting active lifestyles and year-round flights to Europe.
