Snowmobilers Located in Labrador

The RNC in Churchill Falls received a report of three missing snowmobilers.

It was reported that the three males, Didier (DJ) Malleck, 46 years old, John Malleck, 12 years old and Sebastian Malleck (20 years in age) had left a cabin located on Esker Road, located approximately 10 km off Route 500 to go to Gabbro Lake on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at 3:00 p.m.

They did not return when expected.

Labrador West and Churchill Falls Ground Search and Rescue assisted RNC in the search.

At approximately 1:00 p.m. a Nalcor Griffon helicopter from Churchill Falls assisted police and patrolling the Esker Road area and a Comorant helicopter from Joint Task Force in Goose Bay patrolled the lakes area. The three males were travelling in a northbound direction from the Esker Road cabin to Gabbro Lake.

At approximately 3:50 p.m. the three missing snowmobilers were located by helicopter and are currently being transported by helicopter to the Churchill Falls airport. All three snowmobilers are in good health.
