The RCMP is thanking the Postville Ground Search and Rescue for assistance provided on Sunday in the safe rescue of a snowmobiler who went through the ice.
A woman went through thin ice while riding her snowmobile across Salmon Pond near Makkovik on Sunday, just before 1:00 p.m. The woman was able to get off her snowmobile and make it to shore safely, without being submerged.
The vehicle was later recovered from the water.
The woman was located and returned without any injuries.
Snowmobile operators should continually check ice conditions, as bodies of water throughout the province may not be safe for travel.
