Snowmobile Collision Near Appleton Leaves One Man Dead

A 48-year-old man is dead and a 47-year-old woman is seriously injured following a snowmobile collision on a trail near Appleton.

On March 7, 2020, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Gander RCMP were advised of a 911 call reporting the collision.

A snowmobile, carrying two occupants, left the groomed trail, struck a number of trees and came to rest in the woods.

Police believe speed was a contributing factor in the collision. The investigation into what role, if any, alcohol played is continuing.
