Snowbank Crash Leads Police Straight to Suspect at Nearby Restaurant

A 37-year-old man was arrested Saturday night following a report of a suspicious vehicle in central St. John's.
The RNC responded around 9:09 p.m. on March 28 after receiving a report that a vehicle had been left running in the middle of a cul-de-sac, with the driver fleeing the area on foot.
Upon arrival, police determined the vehicle had collided with a snowbank, causing damage.
The RNC’s police dog services unit was called in, and officers located a suspect inside a nearby restaurant. Police said the individual denied involvement in the incident and provided a false name during the investigation.
Further inquiries led officers to identify the man, who was found to be in breach of a release order. Police also discovered an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
The man was taken into custody and charged with public mischief and breaching his release order. He was held to appear in court the following morning.
