An area of low pressure will bring snow to a good chunk of Newfoundland tonight, Wednesday, and Wednesday night.

The heaviest snow is expected in St. John's and the Northern Avalon Peninsula, where snowfall amounts of 25 to 50 cm are possible. Winds will also gust to 80 km/h, resulting in widespread blowing snow.

Over the southern Avalon Peninsula, snowfall amounts of 15 to 30 cm are anticipated. Areas along the coast could see snow mixed with rain at times. Winds will gust between 80 and 100 km/h.

For the Terra Nova, Bonavista Peninsula, and Clarenville, 25 to 35 cm of snow is expected along with wind gusts to 70 km/h.

Central and northeastern Newfoundland will also see snowfall. From Wednesday morning to Thursday morning, snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 cm are possible. Winds will also gust to 70 km/h.
