Eligibility has been expanded for the shingles vaccine as of today.
Those 50 years and over can now receive the vaccine at no cost.
Shingles is a painful localized rash caused by the reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus, which remains dormant after an individual has had chickenpox.
Eligible individuals are encouraged to contact their local pharmacy, physician, or a Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services public health office to confirm participation in the provincial vaccination program and for vaccine availability.
