Road closures in effect for Memorial Day Events

Today there will be several traffic impacts in the City of St. John’s for Memorial Day Events.

There will be road closures on Duckworth Street from Prescott Street to Cochrane Street until 3:00 p.m., Harbour Drive from Waldegrave to Clift Baird’s Cove from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Water Street from Bishop’s Cove to Prescott Street and from Job’s Cove to Cochrane Street. There will also be closures in Beck’s Cove from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and Arye’s Cove from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

No parking is permitted on Duckworth Street, Water Street, or Harbour Drive.

Ceremony

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and the Royal Canadian Legion will be holding a special ceremony to commemorate the centennial of the National War Memorial and the re-interment of an unknown First World War Newfoundland soldier.

The ceremony begins at 9:30 a.m. at the National War Memorial.
