Motorists in St. John's are being advised to expect road closures and parking restrictions this weekend as the city prepares for the annual Tely 10 Road Race.

Several streets along the race route will be closed to traffic on Saturday and Sunday to accommodate participants and ensure public safety.

Bannerman Road will be closed from 4 p.m. Saturday until 2 p.m. Sunday.

Additional road closures will be in effect Sunday, June 28. Circular Road, between Rennie's Mill Road and Empire Avenue, will be closed from 5 a.m. until noon.

Beginning at 7:30 a.m., Military Road between Garrison Hill and Cochrane Street will be closed until noon.

From 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., closures will affect several major roadways, including Topsail Road from Burgeo Street to Columbus Drive, Columbus Drive from Topsail Road to Bay Bulls Road, Topsail Road from Columbus Drive to Cornwall Avenue, Cornwall Avenue, Hamilton Avenue between Cornwall Avenue and Leslie Street, Lemarchant Road, Harvey Road and Military Road.

City officials noted that eastbound traffic on a section of Topsail Road between Burgeo Street and Columbus Drive may be permitted at reduced speeds under the direction of traffic control personnel.

Motorists are encouraged to plan alternate routes and allow extra travel time. Residents along the race route may experience temporary delays as runners pass through affected areas. Detours will be posted, and flag persons and race marshals will be on site to assist with traffic management.

Parking restrictions will also be in effect during the event. Bannerman Road will be designated a no-parking, tow-away zone from 4 p.m. Saturday until 2 p.m. Sunday.

On Sunday, from 7:30 a.m. until noon, no parking will be permitted on Cornwall Avenue, Hamilton Avenue between Cornwall Avenue and Leslie Street, Lemarchant Road, Harvey Road and Military Road.

The Tely 10 is one of Newfoundland and Labrador's largest road races, drawing thousands of runners and spectators each year.
