RNC Seize ATV’s and Charge Operators in Metro
The RNC seized two ATVs and arrested the operators in St. John's.
On Wednesday afternoon, officers observed two ATVs operating on Thorburn Road. The operators of the vehicles were not wearing helmets, as they were observed coming to a stop in the area of Wigmore Court.
Police proceeded to approach the vehicles to initiate a traffic stop, which was conducted without incident.
Over the course of the traffic stop, officers received information from a partner agency that the same vehicles had fled upon an attempt to conduct a traffic stop a short time ago on Hallett Crescent.
As a result, a 21-year-old male from St. John’s was charged with flight from police. He was issued summary offence tickets for operating without a license, operating without registration, operating without insurance, and other offences.
In addition, an 18-year-old male from St. John’s was charged with flight from police. He was also issued summary offence tickets for operating without a license, operating without registration, operating without insurance, and other offences.
The ATVs were seized and impounded from the scene.
Both individuals were released to appear in Provincial Court on a later date.
