RNC Seeking Assistance with Collision Investigation

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is asking for the public's help with the investigation of a motor vehicle collision in St. John’s.

On Monday just before 5:00 pm, officers responded to a single-vehicle collision on the Trans-Canada Highway, between Aberdeen Avenue and Logy Bay Road, in St. John’s.

Police were informed that the male operator of the vehicle involved had fled the area on foot.

A red Hyundai SUV at the scene had significant damage resulting from the single-vehicle incident.

The female occupant of the vehicle remained on the scene of the collision with serious injuries. The 26-year-old female was taken to the hospital to seek medical attention for her injuries.

A short time after police response, officers located the operator of the vehicle in the area of Paddy Dobbin Drive. The 37-year-old male was placed under arrest in connection with a warrant of arrest on an unrelated matter.

The investigation into the collision event remains active, with investigators seeking witnesses and any video footage in the area of the event and the area of the Trans-Canada Highway leading up to the collision.
