The RNC has charged a man and a woman for stealing upwards of $10,000 in clothing from a store at the Avalon Mall in St. John’s.
The theft yesterday from Lululemon happened around 10:15 a.m. and led officers to a home in Mount Pearl, where a search warrant was executed and the following items were seized:
90 pairs of activewear pants
Three pellet guns
A high-velocity paintball gun
Two crossbows
Ammunition
A 30-year-old woman and 3a 5-year-old male have been charged with theft over $5,000. More charges are anticipated, and investigators believe other people are involved.
The RNC believes organized retail theft is occurring on the Northeast Avalon using social media marketplaces to sell large volumes of stolen merchandise from retailers. This year alone, the RNC received two dozen reports of theft just from Lululemon.
The RNC is asking the public to pause and reconsider purchasing high-quality products being sold by a third party.
Anyone with information about stolen property or suspicious sales is asked to contact the RNC at 709-729-8000. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), or visit www.nlcrimestoppers.com.
