RNC provided escort for convoy to ensure public safety

Writer: Web WritersWeb Writers

On Saturday, January 29 a convoy of vehicles moved through St. John's with an RNC escort.

Police may provide an escort for any activity, whether it be a protest, parade, or planned event that could have an impact on traffic, regardless of the cause.

RNC Media Relations Officer Cst. James Cadigan says that police have a mandate to ensure public safety and enforce the Highway Traffic Act. There was no action required by police and no tickets were issued or charges laid.

Anytime there is an event, police will communicate with those planning the event and ensure communication lines are open.
