RNC Promoting Personal Safety Ahead of Social Gatherings

The RNC is encouraging residents to practice personal safety ahead of seasonal social gatherings.
If you are attending an event with a group of friends, agree to a buddy system. Despite your best intentions, in crowded spaces it is easy to get separated, so designate a meeting point in case you get lost or split up. Keep your phone charged and share your location with friends and family. Keep your belongings secure at all times and do not leave drinks unattended.
Obtain medical assistance immediately for anyone displaying symptoms of illness or loss of consciousness. Do not drive impaired, arrange a sober ride home, get a cab or book a ride-share and if you suspect an impaired driver, call 911.
Report suspicious activities to the RNC by 709-729-8000. Non-emergency complaints can be made by using the RNC’s online reporting system. To report anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or visit www.nlcrimestoppers.com.
