Newfoundland and Labrador's police watchdog has charged a Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officer following an investigation into a serious incident that occurred in Corner Brook last year.
The Serious Incident Response Team of Newfoundland and Labrador (SIRT-NL) announced that Const. Peter Kelly has been charged with careless storage of a firearm, ammunition and a prohibited weapon.
The charge stems from an incident involving the on-duty officer on Nov. 10, 2025, in Corner Brook.
SIRT-NL said Kelly has been ordered to appear in court on July 14, 2026.
SIRT-NL is an independent civilian-led agency responsible for investigating serious incidents involving police officers in Newfoundland and Labrador.
