RNC Offers Safe Shopping Tips

As the holiday season draws near, the RNC is providing tips to help ensure those gifts you buy make it under the tree they were meant for.

Thieves tend to prey on distracted shoppers. With that in mind, there are a few ways you can protect your presents and yourself:

• It is a good idea to shop with friends or family. If you must shop alone, do so during the day.

• Secure your belongings. Keep your purse and wallet closed and close to your body.

• Be aware of your surroundings. Avoid distractions, such as using your phone while walking to and from your car. When parking, do so in a well-lit area. Remember where you parked and have your keys ready before getting to your vehicle.

• Lock your vehicle and never leave valuables in plain sight. If your vehicle is equipped with a proximity key, ensure your vehicle is locked before walking away.
