The RNC is warning of a pattern in vehicle thefts in the St. John's area.
Police have received dozens of reports of vehicle thefts in recent months.
While there have been arrested related to the thefts, police are reminding the community to take steps to deter these criminal acts. In the majority of these cases, perpetrators located a key or fob inside the vehicle, or at an insecure location near the vehicle.
Police are asking people to not leave keys or key fobs inside the vehicle when unattended and to always lock vehicle doors and residential doors. It is also a good idea to not leave handbags or wallets in plain view in your vehicle or near the door of a residence, keep vehicle keys out of plain view, preferably away from the entrance of your residence, and report any suspicious activity or persons around your property and neighbourhood.
