RNC make arrest in violent assault in St. John's

Police have made an arrest in relation to a violent assault in St. John’s.
On Sunday evening officers responded to a request for assistance in the area of Linden Place, St. John’s following a report of suspicious activity. An additional call for service was received a short time after from the area of Beech Place.
Responding officers located a 20-year-old man who had sustained serious injuries following a violent assault.
The man was taken to hospital and remains in stable condition.
The investigation identified a suspect as a 40-year-old male, Al Hega Ali-Hussain, of St. John’s. Ali-Hussain was arrested at his residence in St. John’s without incident.
The accused was held in custody to appear before in court and is charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
