RNC Make Arrest Following Single-Vehicle Collision


The RNC have arrested a 22-year-old from St. John’s after a single-vehicle collision in St. John’s this morning.


At 7:55 am this morning the RNC attempted to conduct a traffic stop with a vehicle driving dangerously on Brier Avenue in St. John’s. The vehicle, a grey Honda Civic, did not stop and sped away from the police vehicle.


A short time later, the RNC located the vehicle in the ditch in the area of the Team Gushue Highway.


Police approached the vehicle and observed a male and female to be occupants of the vehicle.


Both occupants were transported to the hospital to seek medical attention for injuries believed to be non-life threatening.


The male driver faces charges of flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle while prohibited, breach of a release order, and breach of probation order. Officers also confirmed that the accused was wanted in connection with the same list of charges regarding an event that occurred in St. John’s on Wednesday.


The accused has been held in custody to appear in court.
