RNC Police Chief Patrick Roche has responded to concerns around donations and changes to the RNC's PSD Stella program.

In a statement, Roche said that the K9 unit "should function effectively and productively without the financial backing of any one particular community member or entity." The RNC does accept some donations and over the years, the RNC has received donations from public and corporate entities and provided donations to community support networks and groups.

If the RNC cannot fund a program it must consider whether the program should exist and/or structure its operation to fall within the budget.

The PSD Stella initiative is still active and provides internal support for RNC members. Stella needed to be trained in social settings according to the RNC and as she transitions out of training her public presence has changed.

At this time the RNC is evaluating the policies and procedures surrounding corporate and private donations.
