RNC arrests man following violent assault in St. John’s

Police arrested a 40-year-old man in St. John’s on Thursday evening following a violent assault that left another male unconscious.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary responded to a call around 7:24 p.m. after reports that a man had been punched, choked, and stomped while on the ground.

The victim was also allegedly threatened with death during the incident.

Officers located the suspect nearby, who was intoxicated and had a bloody hand.

He was taken into custody and held to face charges of assault causing bodily harm, assault by choking, and uttering threats to cause bodily harm.
