Return of Nonsabasut and Demasduit Remains

Premier Dwight Ball announced that the remains of two Beothuk, Nonsabasut and Demasduit will be returned to the province.

Ball made the announcement in the Boardroom at The Rooms.

There is no timeline yet for the return of remains.

The Beothuk were a group of indigenous people living on the island of Newfoundland.

By 1829, with the death of Shanawdithit, the people were officially declared extinct.
