At around 11:40 p.m., on Sunday, March 29th, Firefighters with the Torbay Volunteer Fire Department received a call for a residential structure fire on Blackberry Crescent. When crews arrived, visible smoke could be seen coming from the residence. All occupants of the home were outside upon firefighters' arrival.
Firefighters laid an attack line to knock down the blaze. The fire caused extensive fire damage to the lower part of the home. NL power also cut power to the residence.
Unfortunately, one cat is deceased as a result of the fire. Luckily, no occupants were injured. The occupants of the home were reportedly displaced.
The road was closed as firefighters attended the scene, it is unclear at this time what caused the fire.
