RCMP stops speeding vehicle and seizes contraband tobacco in Carbonear

On Wednesday afternoon RCMP officers conducted a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle in Carbonear.

The 58-year-old male driver is now under investigation after officers observed contraband tobacco within the vehicle.

The driver was arrested and his car was searched.

Police seized a quantity of unstamped tobacco.

The driver has since been released from police custody.
