RCMP stops excessive speeder on Route 430

A 49-year-old man is without his vehicle after the RCMP stopped him for excessive speeding on Route 430 near Cormack on Sunday.


At approximately 3:00 p.m., police stopped a vehicle travelling 153 km/h in a posted 90 km/h zone on Route 430.


The driver showed signs of alcohol impairment and provided a roadside breath sample that was above the provincial limit but below the criminal threshold for impaired driving.


He was ticketed for excessive speeding. For having a blood alcohol concentration above the provincial limit and for excessive speeding, his licence was suspended, and the vehicle was seized and impounded.
