RCMP Stop Driver Owing $12K in Fines

A 50-year-old Sheshatshiu man, with $12,000 in outstanding traffic fines, has been given a court date following a traffic stop early on Wednesday morning.

RCMP pulled over a Jeep Wrangler on Hamilton River Road in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

The driver was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s licence. Police seized and impounded the vehicle.

Given the high amount of outstanding fines, the officer provided the driver with an appearance notice compelling him to attend court to answer to a charge of driving while suspended.
