RCMP step up enforcement in Bay St. George & issue 38 tickets #nltraffic


Traffic enforcement in the Bay St. George area was stepped up last Thursday when Bay St. George RCMP partnered with RCMP Traffic Services West.


Police stopped about 50 vehicles and issued 38 tickets.


Offences including speeding, cell phone use, seatbelt infractions, tinted windows, and equipment violations. One vehicle, that was uninsured and unregistered, was seized and impounded and the driver was ticketed.


RCMP from Bay St. George continued traffic enforcement on April 16 and 17 and seized three more vehicles for traffic infractions. A 40-year-old Corner Brook man was driving without a licence or insurance and was in breach of a court-ordered condition. He was ticketed for the traffic offences and was arrested for breaching a court order. He was released to appear in court at a later date.


A 36-year-old Stephenville man was driving alone near Noel’s Pond with a beginner’s licence that was suspended. He was ticketed for those offences.


A 63-year-old man was driving while suspended on the Main Road in McKay’s. His licence has been suspended since 1993. He was also driving without insurance or registration and was ticketed for those offences.
