RCMP seize approximately 350 cartons of contraband tobacco cigarettes

RCMP have arrested and charged 44-year-old Martin Racine following a traffic stop and seizure of contraband tobacco in Grand Falls-Windsor on Sunday.

The routine traffic stop occurred just before 8:00 p.m.

Police located and seized approximately 350 cartons of contraband tobacco cigarettes, cash, and items consistent with trafficking. The vehicle was also seized.

Racine was arrested and charged with offences under the Excise Act, offences under the Revenue Administration Act, possession of property obtained by crime, selling of tobacco products, and two counts of failure to comply with a release order condition.

The investigation is continuing.
