RCMP searching for escaped inmate in Stephenville

Bay St. George RCMP is actively searching for an escaped inmate from the West Coast Correctional Centre in Stephenville. Thirty-one-year-old Tyler Bennett escaped just after 6:00 p.m. today.

Bennett is 5’8” tall and weighs 160 pounds. He is believed to be shirtless and has multiple tattoos.

Checkpoints are set up on Route 490//Carolina Avenue, and another one is set up on Route 460 near Wheelers Road just outside of Stephenville.
