RCMP & RNC Team Up & Lay 26 Speed-Related Charges #nltraffic

A total of 26 speed-related charges were laid on April 22, during a joint speed enforcement initiative by RCMP Traffic Services East and the RNC Traffic Services unit near Paddy's Pond on the Trans-Canada Highway.

Four drivers were travelling at excessive speeds with readings of 152 km/h, 155km/h, 158km/h and 170km/h respectively.

Each was issued tickets with a hefty fine, license suspensions and their vehicles were impounded.

Initiatives such as these are not “speed traps”. Officers play no role in a driver’s application of his or her foot to the gas pedal. Warning motorists of police presence does nothing to change that driver’s day-to-day driving patterns.
