RCMP Police Service Dog Kane apprehended 31-year-old Corey Killam during a break-and-enter in progress in Grand Falls-Windsor.

Shortly after 4:00 a.m. Thursday, police responded to the report of an attempted residential break and enter in progress at a home located on Brown Avenue. Police attended the area and found the described suspect, Killam, walking along the roadway.

An officer told Killam that he was under arrest for outstanding warrants for failing to attend court and breach of his probation order.

Killam was located by the police dog more than a kilometre away in a wooded area, hiding underneath fallen branches and leaves.

Killam faces charges of break and enter, resisting arrest, five counts of failing to comply with a condition of a court release order, failing to comply with a probation order, and failing to attend court.

The investigation is continuing.
