RCMP nabs driver travelling over 150 km/h

A 29-year-old driver was stopped by RCMP Traffic Services West on Wednesday after being clocked at more than 50 kilometres per hour over the speed limit on the Trans-Canada Highway near Baie Verte Junction.


The incident occurred shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 14, 2026, when an officer observed the vehicle travelling well above the posted 100 km/h limit.


The driver was ticketed for excessive speeding. His driver’s licence was suspended, and the vehicle was impounded.
