RCMP make drug bust on Northern Peninsula
St. Anthony RCMP has arrested two people in connection with an ongoing investigation. On Wednesday police searched of a home in Goose Cove and arrested 34-year-old Troy McCarthy and a 56-year-old man.
St. Anthony RCMP, with assistance from Roddickton and Port Saunders RCMP officers, attended the home in Goose Cove with a warrant to search the property. Officers located and seized a quantity of drugs, cash, contraband cigarettes and other evidence consistent with drug trafficking.
The 56-year-old man, charged with one count of Trafficking Cocaine, was released to attend court at a later date. His name cannot be shared at this time as the charge has not yet been sworn in court.
McCarthy attended court in St. Anthony on Thursday, September 14, and is charged with Trafficking Cocaine, Possession of Cocaine, Selling of Tobacco Products, Unlawful Possession of Contraband, Unlawful Possession or Sale of Tobacco Products, Possess Cannabis for the purpose of selling, Alter the chemical or physical properties of Cannabis, and Distribute Illicit Cannabis.
McCarthy was released from court on several strict court-ordered conditions. One individual, who was present during the search, was released on scene without charges.
