RCMP Investigating Two Possible Impaired Drivers #nltraffic

RCMP in Port Saunders and Rocky Harbour are investigating two separate motor vehicle collisions that happened on March 24.
Police are awaiting the results of blood demands.
At approximately 1:40 a.m., Port Saunders RCMP received a report of a single snowmobile collision on Wigwam Pond in Port au Choix. The driver, a 20-year-old man of Port au Choix, and the passenger, an 18-year-old woman of Hawkes Bay, were taken to Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Police attended the hospital, spoke to both occupants and arrested the driver for impaired driving by alcohol. He was provided a blood demand for an analysis of alcohol. A blood sample was collected and the investigation is continuing.
At approximately 9:30 p.m., Rocky Harbour RCMP were dispatched to a single-vehicle collision. A truck struck a fire hydrant and went down over a bank near the fish plant in Rocky Harbour. The driver, a 77-year-old Rocky Harbour man, was arrested at the scene for impaired driving. He was taken to Bonne Bay Health Centre for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Police accompanied the man to the hospital and provided him with a blood demand for an analysis of alcohol. A blood sample was collected and the investigation is continuing.
