RCMP Investigating Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash #nltraffic
The RCMP is investigating a motor vehicle crash on Route 380 near South Brook that resulted in a fatality.
An SUV had rolled over a number of times and ended up down over a large embankment on its roof. A woman was located outside of the vehicle with serious injuries and police learned that a passenger had departed the area on foot after rendering assistance to the woman. She was transported via ambulance to the Green Bay Community Health Centre in Springdale, where she later died.
RCMP Police Service Dog Kane and his handler were called in to assist, along with a Collision Analyst from RCMP Traffic Services Central. Police Dog Services established a track and the male passenger was located in a wooded area approximately two kilometres from the crash.
He was injured and in need of urgent medical treatment. The man, who was in breach of court-ordered conditions, was transported to the hospital where he remains at this time with non-life-threatening injuries.
Seatbelts were not worn during the crash.
